The demographic changes have led a number of national and international organizations to propose policies for aging in order to meet the growing needs of elderly care. n fact, demographic aging is a challenge for today’s societies, with repercussions on social protection systems, pensions, long-term care and response to the needs of older people (WHO, 2011). In Portugal and in the countries of Southern Europe, there is a calamitous situation in terms of aging policies in the four pillars of development of the World Health Organization, education, health, safety and the participation of people aged 65 and over in contemporary society.
It seems to exist cyclically in societies, the non-utilization of experienced scientific and practical knowledge, in the decisions of politicians, managers, and other agents who at one moment hold the power to decide on the other elements of society. In these disruptive moments, with what one is currently living, it is necessary for civil society to organize itself and recreate new forms of organization and influence of the installed contemporary mediocrity.
The editorial boards of the Journal of Aging and Innovation (JAI), with the goal of publishing the best internationally produced scientific knowledge on aging and thus contribute according to its statutory purposes for the development of hundreds of ideas, which are immortalized in their pages of text, taking advantage of the resources already available for the dissemination of knowledge.
Often they ask us the question “Only publish studies about people over 65 years of age?” The answer is simple our concept of aging is integrative and we understand that aging is promoted through intervention from the embryonic stage of life, birth itself, early childhood and so on until aging, necessarily passing through adulthood.
Finally, we have left our invitation to send articles, according to the norms that we describe in terms of the information of the authors and we hope to correspond with the quality of the works and the effort of all those that publish in the pages of JAI.
Our commitment is to accept the best knowledge, its publication and dissemination.
Yours sincerely, we await your publication,
P´ Editorial Board
